The 63Hother and 65H refers to how many belts if its bias or radial and its speed rating. Look up on a reference on tire codes to find exactly what the code you are considering to compare apples to apples. Do your homework for the best decision for YOU.

buy the tires on line and take your bike to an indie, stay away from the dealer. You should be able to save over $200.

A little of $300 for both tires
$75 for R&R on rear
$40 for R&R on front

approx $450 for both out the door and you don't do anything but bring them the tires and the bike. You can remove the wheels yourself and save a little more, but for me it is not worth it.

The B refers to tyre construction and means bias belted, if it was an R it would be a radial

The 65 is the load index for the tyre and you are correct that the H is the speed rating for that tyre.

65 equates to a load rating of 290 Kg

H equates to 130 mph

Lots of good info here. Thanks for all the help.
Im still uncertain if I can use an AE on front tire as the AE is 80B and my stock tire is a 70B.

My front tire is a Dunlop 408 130/70B-17 and the American Elite I found on sale is a 130/80B-17

anthony, are you sure your front tire is a 130/70-17? the reason i ask is i have a 2010 fltrx (roadglide custom) which should be the same specs as your streetglide with the exception of the fairing and i have a 18'' tire on the front. unless you switched wheels, you should be running 18''.

there is no american elite available in 18''. in speaking with the dunlop rep, you have 2 options. one, go with the stock front tire and the ae in the rear. or 2nd, go with the e3 in the front, and the ae in the rear. the tread is compatible and the load rating is equivalent.

+1 if you got 17K out of the stock tires, stay with them. You could be replacing the tires with something that gives you 8K per tire.

Wildbill....you are correct. I was wrong about the specs. Looks like I too have some homework to do!

I stand corrected. Have an 18 in front and AE comes only in 17 for front, as does the Michillin Commander II's. What a freakin gimmick. So only same tire configuration is to go with the stealerships overpriced 407's and 408's at around 500 bucks just for the treads not including installation. Man that sucks.
