I've used Amsoil for years in my bikes and have had no problems until now. Towed my 2011 Electra glide out to Sturgis. Rode around 1200 miles in the heat out there. On the last day out there and ever since I get tappet noise until the engine really warms up. The oil was changed just before we left for Sturgis and the level was checked every day. No loss of oil just noise from the tappers. Any ideas?

Try Redline 20W50 or 60.
That's all I've ever used since I found out about it years ago and my engines sound like little sewing machines. It even stopped the notorious valve noise on my '03 RK.
Don't know if it will work for you, but I swear by it!
That's what you get for towing a TOURING BIKE to Sturgis!!! JK!
I wouldn't call what you're experiencing an oil issue. It's probably the typical lifter noise that many Harley's experience. If not, then I'd be more inclined to say it's a lifter or valve train problem, not a "brand of oil" problem.

If you have used it for years with no issues, why would you be so quick to blame it now? It is a HD noise machine, and parts do fail now and then. Trying to blame the oil seems like just trying to take the easy way out.
I would change oil only, to a 20w50 dino oil and ride it, if noise changes you have isolated the issue. If it is still noisey, change the filter only and top off oil. Ride it, if noise changes, you have isolated it. If noise is the same, you have a mechanical issue.
