Anyone got the HD P/N's needed to complete this job? I have a feeling my stealership is not going to know what the heck I'm talking about at the parts counter! [:@]
If you want some serious gearing go with p/n# 40200-02. It list for $134.95. That will get you around 3.71 final.Changes your primary from 1.44 to 1.7. It consist ofa new primary chain and front sprocket.
for a hunderd bucks you can just get the 24 tooth motor sprocket...it'll drop you from 3.15 to 3.29
What will that do for me in performance? Pretty soon it will cost me less than $100 because I went and did it now.....interviewing with local HD for a part time parts/service position [8D]
I've had the SE 6 speed and 3.37 gears for some time now, and love them. I would say anyone doing a lot of highway time would need the 6 speed to cool the engine down a little, most of my highway riding is in the 80 to 85 range, with the 6 speed your final ratio is 2.94, that's higher than a stock gear ratio with a 5 speed
If most of your riding is around town do the 3.37's and you'll love it
If your a highway person, do the 3.37 anyway and add the 6 speed
Bryan, yes we have given up on the Spyke people, seems like they really dont care, a shame to cause their price was right. If you dont get the SE the baker is the way to go, and I will hook you up. Had the drag specialties rep by Friday, and he is trying to work out some special pricing for us. I will know more about that in a day or two.
I've got factory 3:37 gearing. '99-'01 FI bikes came with 3:37. I've never really felt the need for a 6th gear. I've put 64k miles on my bike, most of it on the interstate, the extra revs over the 3:15 bikes doesn't bother me. I like to twist the throttle in high gear and go.
Amen! I'ed bet you get goodmileage too.
