I have been running 6.5 JLs for over a year now. I have their five channel amp with four channels bridged to two for the coaxials (150 watts/channel in this configuration). I am very happy with the sound and no issues whatsoever at 70+ mph.

I think you will be happy with either speaker choice, I agree with the post that you should look into a better amp. Get one of those JL XD amps you won't be disappointed. Better to do it once then 2-3-4 times.... I run HERTZ Hi-Energy series 6.5's, should have bit the bullet up front and got the component speakers, no I went with the co axles, yes they sound good but guess what they will be replaced by the components anyway. I started with alpine PDF 4.100 & arc mini (older model not there bx), arc mini kept getting hot and cutting off. Next was just PDF 4.100 running 8 speakers actually sounded PDG. I wanted bag space back so I sold both amps and went to 2 rf pbr amps. They were not able to push the speakers good enough. All 8 speakers rated 100 rms +. So of course sold RF Amps, and got JL xd 600/6 and PDF F6. What I have learned better to over power then under power. do it once you hope and do it right. Sorry to be so long winded.

I'm only running JL C2 6.5"s in the fairing and lowers with a JL 4x100 amp in the fairing and a kenwood head unit. No problem at 80+ but ya ain't gonna really hear the highs or the lows at much of any speed on a bike no matter how good the system. I wanted clean power so the speakers would live at higher volume so went with the JL amp. I didn't go to high end speakers because I knew the sound quality would be lost to the wind. I am very happy with the results. Haven't been in any big rainstorms yet???
