Ok, I've used my Ipod plugged into the auxiliary port on my 99 flht forever and it's worked like a champ. Well, today, I installed new HogTunes tweeter pod only and, wow, what a great improvement!! I listened to it all afternoon with no problems. Here's my problem: tonight I went to show it off to a buddy and now it only sounds like maybe a quarter of the sound is coming out of the speakers, both the stock ones and the tweeter pod. This is ONLY when the Ipod is plugged in; the radio and casette sound great still. It's not the Ipod; I checked it in my truck. Does the little port thing go out or something? It seems like it's not making good connections inside or something. Oh yeah, I've tried two different cords too, so it's not the cord. Is there a way to wire the Ipod directly inside the head unit? I'm really upset and want my tunes back!
nope, volume still up. it's like it's kind of distorted and squeeky sounding. i'm at a total loss. like i said, when i unplug the ipod the regular radio or the casette still sound awesome; just when the ipod is plugged in it sound awful!
tried turning it, pushing it, wiggling it, etc. this is really pissing me off!! thanks for the replies; keep them coming. certainly if anyone knows what the deal is, someone on here does....
ok, tried different cables; still not workin. tried the foil trick; didn't work. after the foil trick though, i plugged it back in and well, when i pushed down on the cord, it worked perfectly as long as i kept a little pressure (down) on the cord. so, it's got to be something inside of the receptacle. like one of the little springy things that contacts the two parts on the cord is not making contact. now i've narrowed it down to that. is there any way to repair the inside of the port i.e. can the radio be taken apart enough to "respring" it? or, is there another port or something on the back that can be maybe "hardwired" in there? certainly, i don't have to buy a whole new deck just because the plug is messed up slightly? man, i hope not. i'll bet those decks are not cheap!!! any ideas on how i can just repair mine?
