When my aux jack stopped working, I figured I had two choices: take it to the dealer, who would pull the radio out, send it off to be checked, and then who knows how many weeks later I'd get it back, maybe fixed under warranty or maybe I'd be paying; the second choice was to just fix it myself. I decided to just fix it.
I pulled the radio out, took off the front faceplate and found that the aux jack had come unsoldered. Two minutes later, after my soldering iron was heated up, the problem was fixed.
Since I was in there, and any chance of getting warranty work on the radio was gone because I opened it up, I decided to go ahead and do the add a jack in the back mod suggested in an earlier post on this thread. That post also describes how to open up the front of the radio to get to the aux jack.
Now, I have my Zumo plugged in to the new aux jack coming out of the back of my radio and have no more wires sticking out the front.
It wasn't brain surgery, but you need to have beginner soldering skills, and the courage to do something that might turn out great or might just turn your radio into a paperweight. It worked out well for me.
that port is very fragile (got the exact same problem)it is NOT covered under warrenty ,saw the thread on add a jack and one on a place u can ship the head unit into and they will fix it as well as change out the hard to read screen and waterproof it .
