We have a 10 FLHTK. We ride 2 up 95% of the time. Total weight 420 ( I will not tell wife's weight! Don't want to die). Mine is blulk of it. We go campaigning 50% of the time that is another 75# weight
We were sold 418's from progressive and then told by the. It is the wrong shock ( out over $600.00 not happy). Progressive is looking to see if they have a new spring that may help?? Will it not sure. a short tide for use is 400 miles. We like to go and escape.
Always thought that the bike should handle better now I know why it does not.
Help what should be used. I looking at legend ( think these are all show and no go.) Maybe I am wrong. I have talked with Ohlin like what I hear.
Please give feedback. So I am not wasting money I don't have. Thank you
Ditto on this. I have friends that have bought progressive 440's and have preferred the Ohlins. The Ohlins do cost 200-300 more. But at least from my friends that have ridden my bike with ohlin 3's and their same exact bike, they wish that they spent the extra cash. I ride about 70% two up touring. And my wife says that it is now like riding a cadillac. But I also replaced the front with the progressive mono cartridges. HTH
I'm cheap and went with 440s but I ride solo. I don't think ya can beat Howard and Ohlins for the best ride. Penske may still do Harley shocks? I went with Racetech springs and Ricor valves from fabrik8 in the front, works great.
My SG came with stock 12" shocks that are horrible, even 1 up. I then installed Progressive shocks, they were topping out over certain kind of bumps, didn't like them at all. I found a pair of 13" stock Ultra shocks on Ebay, I now have a comfy ride.
