All this debate about oil is a little ridiculous in my mind... Good oil is good oil...

I go for the simple oil change, best bang for the buck in my book...

Mobil 1 20W50 Vtwin for engine and primary
Mobil 1 75w90 for tranny...

At $10 a quart, can't find a better value. And the gear oil really quiets down the 5th gear whine...

What I am saying is just don't loose sleep over it...

Thanks to everyone that voted, results are interesting. Only 12% use the same in all 3 holes. Considering that Syn3 which Harley suggests for running in all 3 cost almost $20 per quart and you need 6 quarts per oil change no wonder.

I run HD primary oil and Amsoil in the engine. I run Amsoil gear oil in the transmission.

When I had my cams installed on my 2012, I changed over to my usual combo above. When I picked up the bike, all the usual ticking is completely gone. I think it is due to a combination of the Amsoil and the tighter tolerances on the rockers.

I run 4qts. of Amsoil 20w-50 in the engine
1qt. of Bel-Ray V-Twin trans fluid which is 85w-140 I believe in the trans, and I run 45 oz. of HD Formula+ in the primary.

Every thing works great.

Don't know where you're shopping, but it's $12 at my dealer, and about $10 from lshd1.

I run motor oil in the engine because it's an engine.

I run gear oil in the transmission because I've always run gear oil in manual transmissions.

I run Formula+ in the primary because HD recommends it and I've never dealt with this chain/clutch business before.

I don't think one oil is the best for all 3 holes. I think the different oils were engineered and manufactured for different applications.

One oil in all 3 holes may work fine. We read about it a lot here.

Motor: Amsoil 20w50 synthetic
Tranny: Amsoil Severe Gear
Primary: Type "F" auto transmission fluid

Best combination I've found yet, and buying amsoil as a perferred customers saves a few bucks, http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/def...i=1&zo=1791369
