Hey, I have a Road Tech Zumo 550; should I be concerned? Right now, the way it is hooked up (hardwired in) I have no voice prompts through the factory stereo system. Do I need the NIM to make this work?
NIM only works with the 660 and 665 models. sorry..
what you can do is plug your zumo into the aux input on the front of the radio and get your voice prompts through the radio that way
Thanks UltraNutZ! That's what I thought but I was hoping for some kind of other connection or workaround as I have my iPhone connected in the aux input for the iTunes. I guess the solution is to upgrade my GPS. Ugh, nothing seems like a simple solution!
NONE of the 660s will work without a firmware AND software update which you must send the unit back to garmin to have the firmware piece done. Also some 665s do not have the proper firmware either. You have to call Garmin, tell them what you're wanting to do, they will ask for the serial number of the unit, and they will tell you whether it will work or not.
Finally going get my NIM today.. sorry for the delay.. beginning to wonder if I'll eat my own words here but we'll find out soon enough..
Its hard for me to buy this. The Zumo 665 my buddy has probably has the latest firmware, the sw was verified update via the webupdater . Its brand new and not old stock well unless this firmware change happened very recently - like in the past 2 months.
Anyway didn't work when we tried this past weekend. Let us know your results
I've got a 23cu ft fridge in the mancave that stays at 32 and every shelf, drawer, door bin is full of cold beer of varying flavors. I vote that if I'm wrong (which I probably am) you all come down and we'll just make a damn party out of it!
