Well i guess all to save a buck or 2. I bought my 4 point docking hardware from ebay. Same sort of ad i think, but not that person. Mine came wrapped in a plastic. Fit perfect, chrome is perfect. Backrest and stealth rack fits perfect. Mine may be one of those knock offs as well but seems good. I dont think anyone should mis represent something but i guess it happen. I guess buyer beware.
I am waiting till my refund is back in my paypal account before I report them to Ebay and Harley. Only makes sense to wait till I have my $100 back to the seller. I agree with "buyer beware" however, they show actual Harley pictures and use actual Harley part numbers. Seemed to be pretty legitimate at the time.
File a dispute now or the seller will probably deduct the shipping. Ebay will refund the full price, shipping & maybe the return shipping. The system works if you use it properly & he can't give you negative feedback. Fire away!
Actually I purchased a windshield that had lots of scratches not stated by the seller. Ebay refunded my money in full including shipping and sent me a prepaid return label to ship it back to the seller. The seller refused it and it came back to me. Ebay told me to keep it or dispose of it. I sold it as is with scratches stated to the buyer for 1/2 price. Made out all around. I have about 1000 Ebay transactions, buying & selling. I've had about 4 problems. Ebay made good on all 4. Learn the system, use the system. I've saved thousands on Ebay.

The guy is selling the 4-point dock for $130 and you can go to the dealer and buy it for $160. I guess my question is why did you even take the chance? To put this in perspective it cost me almost $18 to fill up my bike the other day. I wouldn't even question paying the extra $30 for the peace of mind.

I guess i see it different. I got mine for 110 shipped with no tax. Going to the dealer it would be 170 with tax. Saved 60 bucks and it fit like a glove. I wouldnt of even known it wasent a harley part or not. Sometimes the extra money spend is for the name. I know there are websites to get harley parts cheaper but then you pay shipping unless you spend over the minumum amount. To me this was the best option. Glad the OP is getting his money back since the ad was misrepresented.
Just like the listing. When I received and opened the parts they are sealed and obviously not taken off of anything. The chrome is awful quality and the hardware was even worse. I am calling Harley today and see what they say.
Good - my guess is they won't say much (to you at least) but they may well shut the seller down. I've seen them shut others down on eBay for similar copying and H-D does have patents on their docking hardware. Follow the eBay seller and see if he's still posting a month from now. He's clearly lying through his teeth.
Your purchase clearly states it replaces the Harley part # xxxxxxx so you know going in it's not a HD OEM part. Replaces Harley O.E.M.#54205-09
I refer you to the response I received from the seller when I asked him if the parts are OEM or not (see earlier in thread). Regrettably, and with no disrespect, you are incorrect, he does mean to imply that the parts are OEM.
Don't agree with Mike about e-bay many deals to be had i've bought many items from Hd dealers before MOCO put a stop to it this year.So saying that I'd becareful when someone lists something new and in an unopened package with HD part numbers in mass qualities because dealers aren't allowed to sell on ebay.So it's probably black market fakes. Not to say that there aren't people that have bought dealers going out of business closeouts.
Are you sure about that? If so, and if HD would do something about it we'd loose about 20% of the existing dealers.

Dave, my quote was a response to pontiac69's post about his ebay purchase of the same item. Try reading the whole post
