I have a 2001 rk and right now I'm using a friends 2006 flhx. Wow, when did Harley go to this easier to pull clutch, and what can I do to make mine like that?
I think 06 is when they went to the easy clutch, with the improved ramp, you can buy a clutch ramp kit for your bike , I am sure someone will chime in with a part #
Not sure on the year perhaps 06??? Harley makes a kit and so do a few others. Its a different ramp device where the clutch cable ties in under the cover on the side of the transmission. Do a search here or on google "Harley EZ Pull Clutch".
Sven as far back as 98 I dont recall the clutch being all that hard to pull?
I have LARGE hands. The clutch is really not a problem. But that clutch is nice on that 2006. I could see where if I was stuck in traffic (happens a fair amount riding to work) the easy pull would be nice.
That being said. I did a little looking around and the kits are cheap. Might be a good winter project. Or the next time I change fluids.
I don't think it was standard equipment on 06 bikes, my 06 was pretty stiff, put the hydraulic clutch on mine, my friends 07 is still easier to pull than my hydraulic. If I had to do it again I would look at the Magura hdyra unit, it works in conjunction with the OEM manual throw out, maybe that and the ez pull together.
