I just put in a Burly a few weeks ago. Don't try it unless you have a good pair of ring pliers.

i remember reading that the new clutch cable was also a part of what made the 07 and up clutches easier to pull. something about a teflon casing, which also has bearing on how you lube it.

If your in that deep it makes a lot of sense to change cable as it could only help due to the age of the bike.

From my experience, the complete "Harley" easy clutch really makes it a light pull on
2005 and earlier bikes. My Roadglide had "Harley" kit in it.
But you will have clutch slippage if you have any mods done to increase torque.
This is caused by the "Harley" clutch spring that is part of that kit. It does not have
enough spring pressure.
My answer for my 04 Roadglide was to remove the lighter clutch spring and replace it with a stock spring from those years. This keeps the ramp parts only. I have installed lots of those white bother kits (just an extended cable arm inside trans and a spacer outside the cover) and they work fine. At least a 1/3 lighter pull.
Yes you will need a LARGE set of snap ring pliers.

First I put the reduced effort HD part in (IMHO not much difference). Then I put an AIM VPC pressure plate in and the clutch is effortless feels like the cable is broken.

Need to pull the primary cover and right side transmission cover to install. Best to get new gaskets for each while you pick up the kit.

And of course transmission and primary oils will be required too.
No need to pull the primary cover off. I did my 03. Take off the derby cover. Put on a pair of mechanics gloves, grab the spring with both hands and pull. One quick jerk and it will come out through the derby cover opening. Push the new one in the same way. Saves time an $$$. If you have questions, PM me.

Ditto that ! But the only reason to change the spring .
Would be to add the high torque spring . IF you motor has the requirement .
I'll say it just once more M R C is the way to go !
