Exclamation U1016 with Throttle Issues

2009 Ultra
Stage 1, Slip Ons, PC5

Recently replaced Twist Grip Sensor as it went bad. Bike would sputter with 1/4 turn as the sensor wasnt reading right.

Replaced it, bike worked great!

Problem is back with only 2k since, now it is throwing a U1016 and the problem is intermittant. But when it does happen, the only code thrown is U1016......

Advise?

U1016 = Loss of ECM serial data. Check the plug under the seat where it plugs into the ECM. Sometimes the plug (being sat on all the time) can cause problems. Hopefully, it's not the ECM itself.

Im hoping its not the ECM too.....

The problems are the same as when I replaced the twist grip. Buit if it is that again.. than that would be a good indicator of a deeper problem.

Any reports of the PC5 causing ECMs to go bad?

UPDATE: Still need input/assistance

on the "S" and "T" portion of my DIAG, code U1016 comes up.

Most of the time when running, the cruisecontrol does not activate when pressed and the throttle is touchy... sparatic, sometimes non responsive.

I replaced the twist grip (throttle) about 2k ago due to similar issues but different codes.

Any ideas? _________________

Bypassed the PC-V and went straight stock, no change in status/codes/issues

UPDATE:

Reconnected EVERY connection in the bike.....

Now, no check engine light, bike runs very smooth. No codes come up in DIAG.

However, although the DIAG says NONE, it has P/N 67349-08 listed.....

any ideas what it means if no code is given??????

That's normal. It will say "none" and if you hit it again it will give you the pn# consistent with the part of the diag mode you are in like the speedo, etc. So the plug under the seat did the trick?

No. Not the plug under the seat... I checked those each with a turn off turn on routine.. after the 2nd plug i said F it and just cleaned every connector on the bike.. inside the fairings , under the seat, fuses, etc.

One of em worked!

Thx for the info on the P/N...
