I hopped my bike up because the bike just needed more power. I weigh in at about 3 bills, and myOL goes a buck 30. Thats basically like strapping a sport bike to my Ultra and trying to haul both of them. Something the stock 88" had a bit of trouble doing. Now, I have AMPLE power to enjoy the curviest of back roads whether solo or 2 up. Sure, I can get the front wheel off the ground when I shift to 2nd gear, but thats not why I did it.
Have you ever listened to a stock Harley sit in a parking lot and idel lately, they sound like Chit, no more potatos in'em with the EFI systems. Now pump the HP up and your back to the real Harley sound, and it's fun to twist the throttle also.
Well to each his own, I for one do not want to drag race with my Ultra. 96 or 103 is good enough for me. What I like is onnice summer day I'm cruising along at about 70-75 mph, my feet on the highway pegs, with my favorite song going. That's what I look forward too. If I want to tear down the road at over 100 mph, I would have purchased a Hyabusa.
...why the hell do you need a 3.2GHz Centrino with 2GB ram and a 2 billionX HDVD burner and a 24" lcos auxillary screen for gaming and email???? Cause.
In the 80's Bill Gates made the statement, "No company will ever need more than 640Kb." Times change. My last computer still works fine on the net (my neighbour has it), but I had to go buy the "nitrous" version. Why? Cause.
Same with machines. Knockin' it up is lifeblood for some people...not all people...but some. If you can't figure out why, you're not one of them.
Got more speed on my $900.00 twenty five year old rice burnin' in-line four cylinder than I'll ever get in a v-twin. Still, it's nice to twist that bagger's throttle and notice something happening. It's nice to pass with ease without downshifting. But let's face it, the v-twin will never really be fast from an all included motorcycle standpoint, you can really only compare them to other v-twins.
A friend of mine had a custom bike built with a 120+ ci El Brutae, suicide shift, 3,500.00 clutch. Tore the nubs off the belt the first week. All I know for sure is that he has a very large grin on his faceevery time he rides that monster.
