I ordered new wheels for the Street Glide. 21 X 3.5 in the front, 18 X 4.5 in the rear, with some 880's and matching rotors. When I ordered the wheels Phil at Hogpro warned me that I have to make sure that there is 1/4" clearance from the tire to the fender all the way around. Has anybody put the 21" on the front of a bagger, did you have any issues with this? Here's a pic of the rims I just ordered.
You are going to Love it, it's close but it doesn't rub. What i did to make sure was take the fender off and enlarge the holes a little and then reinstalled the fender, before tighten the fender down completely i lifted the rear of the fender up and tighten it down while holding the fender up.Use lock washers to make sure the fender/bolts hold there position
Thanks for the tip. He I just wanted you to know that your sig pic is the reason I've got Road glide take offs (mufflers)and getting the baffles replaced with a 2" baffle. I love the way the pipes follow the back of the bike!
Hey 04Harleyboy, I am not, repeat,NOT tryin to rain on your parade but I'm wonderin if a 21 is just to skinny-lookin to go with bagger front-end. I'm thinkin of goin to an 18 on the front when wheels are done on my 05Classic. Have you actually seen 21's on a bagger? Do they look right?...just wonderin....Joe Mac
I have seen the 21" on a touring bike, I love the way it looks! I was like you when I first started thinking about mags, I wanted 18" and I was going to put a fender from a fatboy on it and lower it. Then I saw a glide with a 21" rim....wow! That was it, thats the look I wanted. So I understand what you are saying, but for what I want my bike to look like, this is the wheel for me
Make sure you take some good pics when you get them ! That is going to be a sweet bike .One question do they supply the wheel spacers , or are you going to have to fab some ?
