Thanks guys...I don't think this will be too hard, but just a lot of little pieces to make sure I have.

haha.

Make sure you paint the inner fairing before you put it all together.
Well, since HD didn't make a RGC in 2010 in my color, I need to have the outer painted, and pinstriped to match the rest of the tins. And as I already have my SG inner painted, there is no way I could go back to a black one.

As for assembly...I don't think this will be too bad. Any ones and twos that I missed on the parts can easily be had from the dealer, in a relatively short time. Definitely a winter mod - getting the paint done will take the longest.

Was $2300. with 20% off ?

It was. I split the order between Lake Shore and New Castle HD. Each offered better deals than the other on some parts, so I ordered each part from where it was cheaper. For things that were the same, I went with Lake Shore...

The thing is, I needed some parts that a regular FLHX wouldn't need. For example, my FLHXSE came with the Mustaches Engine guard, which doesn't work with the FLTR fairing.

I really do plan on getting some pictures of the process. Hopefully I can remember when I'm turning wrenches!

Good luck with the conversion. Maybe you can post up some pix of the conversion process.

This past weekend, I rode a Road Glide Ultra at the demo event at Thunder in the Rockies. I was hooked.

Trading my CVO Street Glide wasn't an option for a few reasons. First, we're bonded. I love the bike, the things I've added on, and the things that make it mine. Second, it's a great bike - still young with a lot of life. Third, I'd lose my hide on a trade.

So I did what any reasonable Harley owner would do...I ordered everything needed to convert the Street Glide to a Road Glide.

I know it's going to be a long wait for the parts, and even longer for the paint too. I've already talked to Gunslinger Paint, and they're more than suited for the challenge.

Oh, and before all the nay-sayers chime in about "WHY WHY WHY?" and "Why not trade?" - it's my bike, and my money! We're all different and we all like different things.
I am in the process of converting my street glide to a road glide as well. Getting as much as I can via eBay and craigslist the rest I will get from the dealer. Bunch of mods over the winter coming for my bike.
