Like some on here, I typically only plug mine in if the bike will be sitting for more than a week, but I plan to use it over the winter months. Had one for my '06 RK and never used it, even during the winter. I'd just go crank it about once a month and the battery on that never gave me any problems after 6 years.
I ride too often to have to hook up the tender, however, I do use this tender when it sits more than a week. Local Advanced Auto parts on sale at the time for $23. Converts over for use with the pigtails.

Welcome to the Forum! My bike is always on the tender. Either that, or it's on the road. When I grab the bike for a ride, the tender gets plugged in to the John Deere. When I return, it goes back into the V-Twin. Never hurts.
My battery tender was on sale at Jafrum for $17.50. I believe. Bike spins real strong when that start button is depressed.
