Dude, with what everybody is advising you to do, you will spend a thousand bucks. I said wheel bearings with tire replacement, that's all. I had my tensioners (05) checked at 50 and they were great. Had them replaced at 70 and they were still great. At about 70K you will likely need to replace inner and outer cam bearings which I did along with the tensioners. Really at 28K you may need rear break pads too, but if the bike was well taken care of, you should not need too much. That's still low mileage.

You do not need to do all the crap everyone is mentioning. It is just a tire change, don't make more out of it than you need to. While the tire is off, clean the brake pistons and if needed, replace the brake pads. That's it.

your indy should tell you if he notices anything while he is changing the wheel, every thing that needs the rear wheel removed to repair should be checked, I really think any decent mechanic would check for wheels bearings problems or tell you if the brakes were worn and needed replaced, let him do what your paying him for and if he brings up other issues while he is working talk to him about the problems and solutions. If you trust him to do the work trust him to show you any issues he may notice. Personally if I have the wheel off and there is any doubt I replace the pads. Everything else with the mileage will probably be ok. Cam tensioners prob should be checked but that doesn't involve the rear wheel.

Whoa! Some of these recommendations are pretty high cost. (As many have mentioned) I've had the tensioners checked at 20K and they looked like new. Think I'm OK with them at this point.

So, from the list I'm thinking new tire, new bearings, new pads (if needed). Maybe have them check the belt to make sure it's OK. Other then that, I'm thinking I'll leave the rest alone for now.

Thanks everyone!

Look up in your fender to make sure wiring is in place tight not rubbing on tire.

Some good suggestions above. Whenever my wheel is off, I always take a look at the bearings and the seals (seals are probably the cheapest part you will ever buy !). All the rest of the stuff is " winter" work.
Ride safe !

another one, if you remember, is to check for free play in the swing arm.

I agree. After my episode with a nail, pads and pin kit+ tax was only $59.63. Since tire was already off, no labor charge.

So if the pads are getting thin, get them changed now. It'll save you $80-100.00 in labor charges.
