Default Brake pad glue

Hey just wondering... When I did my rear brakes the pads came with a tube of glue or goo or whatever it's called to apply to the back of the pad so it would adhear to the piston. The fronts didn't come with that stuff. So I put them together without. I assume it's to keep the pads from touching the disc when they are in the running mode.

What do others do? Do I need that stuff or no?

Are you sure it is not lube for the caliper piston?

Agreed either piston lube or anti squeak to kep metal to metal noise down where pad sits on caliper piston , or could be antisieze for the sliding pins. pads touch the rotors at all times on disc brakes

It was for putting on the back side were the piston rubs the steel backing to keep it from chattering. (at least long enough to everthing seats in) least you bring them back. They must be the harder no dust pads. Nothing goes on pad side. In fact you need to be careful not to get it on that side. I would have thrown it away.

yeah thats the stuff I guess. It comes with a template that you stick to the back of the steel pad so you only put the goo where the piston would sit against the back of the pad.

So... not necessary on the front then?
