I am currently a softail owner looking to expand into the touring world. Here is my question: Other than the fairing and obvious cosmetics, what are the differences between the EG Ultra Classic and the Road Glide Ultra?
I am leaning toward the UC but my brother/sister in law are telling me the RG is a better/smoother ride.
I will be looking at used... 2009 or maybe 2010...
Any help, thoughts or info?
and I have the opposite opinion, so you'd do well to test ride or rent each for a day.
I myself like the fairing close and tuck into it in crap weather, can't do that in wet weather on an RG.
the batwing fairing does translate wind gusts into steering input as the fairing is fork mounted.... the RG fairing is frame mounted, wind gusts can cause a full bike lean into the wind.
touring bikes of the same year share frame, drivetrain, suspension etc. the only differences are the plastic, badgers, radio/speakers and wheels ( a couple of models have 12" shocks, the full models have 13" shocks
I'm leaning toward a 2009 ultra glide. Want the new frame geometry but no cat in the pipes. do not intene to mod it much as I have my crossbones for that. This will be for taking my wife and I for weekend trips / sight seeing etc...
go ride em both and take the wife with ya,i love the rg for stable ride and light steering, wife hated the rg says the wind closes on her ears drove her nuts "happy wife.....
