Default Travel Bag

Planning a 4500 mile ride next year from Texas to Cali and back on a 12 SG. Have a detachable luggage rack. I'm checking to see what travel bag the experts here would recommend for wife and I. They all kinda look the same online so any personal experience with any particular brand would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've had the Tbags Lonestar and it's an excellent roomy bag that fits on backrest and luggage rack. Any of Tbags items are top of the line.

I have used a T-bag a lot in the past with no complaints except that it was somewhat difficult getting stuff out of the bottom (poor planning on my part ).

Last few years I have used the HD Multi-fit luggage, part #94734-09, made by SAC, and it has served me very well on several long trips including to Daytona, and the Rockies, and a monster trip to Alaska. No problem with things getting wet even in downpours.

I use a saddleman bag. I really like it but found out the hard way that they are not water proof. So what ever you buy make sure you keep that in mind!

Tbags Lonestar for me also. great bag. I have several of the TBags for different length trips. The Lonestar is good for a week or more for two if you pack carefully. TBags are all top of the line bags.

Timely post. I've been looking for a bag for my trips and I will share a few thoughts. My son-in-law bought a 2 cubic foot Saddleman BR-3400 bag that looks great, with many little compartments, nice touches, and really looks nice. (Oh, did I already say that?) All three of my riding buddies have seat bags (two have the Saddleman BR-3400) and I'm getting a bag for our next big trip, too. But what kind should it be? Well I watched all three scurry when it looked like rain was on its way, and not just to get their rain suits on. They had to cover their water-resistant bags. Fortunately, the BR-3400 has a self contained rain cover. The third guy had to use a black plastic bag to cover his.

Okay, where am I going with this? I'm skipping the nice to look at, water-resistant bag and purchasing a waterproof, dry bag. Google "Watershed Animas Dry Backpack" to get an idea of what I'm looking at. Waterproof is better than water-resistant, so why not spend the money on something that will keep your stuff dry?

Now for the particulars of the ultimate dry bag for me. Black, 2-plus cubic feet, waterproof, easy to secure to my seat (using as a seat bag), and easy to carry when checking in for the night. BTW, I will probably go bigger than the Animas - maybe the Watershed Westwater or other similar bag. Hope this helps to open up your thoughts.

I just bought the HD Premium Luggage large bag. Will be using it for the first time this Thur going to OC Bike Week. Fits everything both me and the GF need. Was going to get the T-Bag version, but got a better deal on the HD. I have a T-Bag roll bag and both brands are well made.

When riding solo I use one of the two water proof bags depending on lenth of time on the road. Both bags keep everything dry in the worst weather but if I had to choose one it would be the Ortleib, made in Germany, need I say more.

I use Tbags and they have a rain cover included, they are sturdy, with big Zippers and lots of Pockets too.
