Default 2012 Roadglide Custom

Thinking of trading in my 04 Heritage Softail Classic on a new 2012 Roadglide Custom. I read something about a slammed suspension. I have a bad back, and am wondering how these bikes handle in comparison to my softail.

Also ride 2 up and wondering how passenger comfort is on these bikes.

the stock suspension is 12" shocks like a Street Glide , that isn't really slammed , that being said I am not a fan of air shocks be it 12" or 13" so I changed mine out , unlike a softtail there are plenty of options available on dressers and are easy to change

I have a 21012 FLTRX, it rides just fine and handles great. Any touring model will ride better than a softail because of the heavier bike and better suspension.

The suspension on the RGC isn't slammed but it does have shocks that are 1" shorter than the electra glide models.

Make sure you test ride one or rent one for a day. Good luck.

Pretty sure you'll love it. The RG is a great bike and you can always upgrade the shocks if you feel it necessary.

I came from a 05 Fatboy with Progressive Suspension to my 11 FLTRX and it is a whole different class of motorcycle. At its best the softail could not be compared to the ride of the touring bike. Not to bash the softail because I lved my Fatboy but bottom line is the touring line of HD are the best handling and most comfortable bikes HD makes. They may not be for everyone because of size, riders position etc. But IMO my Glide is more nimble at all speeds than my fatboy was and more comfortable for distance as well

The Road Glide Custom shares suspension with the Street Glide - same bike, different fairing. Great for solo riders (unless they are really big), not so much for two-up.

I have my username, my wife (LadyFunBags) has a 2010 Street Glide that's been lowered another inch. She has back problens, too - and loves the Street Glide. Her prior ride was a Softtail Deluxe, and she says the SG is a much better ride.

When you say, "Not so much for two-up." Do you think that it will be less comfortable two-up than my 04 Heritage Softail? My wife likes the ride on it, and I'd hate to have her dissappointed after giving me the ok to trade-up.

I just recently went from a Softail to a 12 FLTRX and that was by far THE BEST decision I have ever made. I was worried at first about the way it would handle in the curves and then I went on my first real ride with twisties and the thing handles sooo much better than it did..I can go in hotter and lean into it more than I EVER could on the Softail...Best decision I have made...come join the SharkTank...we welcome you.

Thanks! Yours is nice, I'm hoping to get the same color.

Do you ride 2up, and if so, how is the passenger comfort compared to your Softail?
