I have a 2007 Road King which I love but have 2 problems, 1, being 6.4 tall i get alot of buffeting with the screen on just over 60mph & with the screen off from the front lights I think above 75mph, not sure how to stop this? Also on a light throttle between 1500 & 2000 rpm I have a rattle from engine area, this has been listened to by dealers & others, every one says they cant hear it & others say I should not be riding @ this rev range & should change down, it has been stage one tuned, exhaust, airfilter & injector leads. if I cant sort this I will have to sell, does any one have any ideas?
Chrome wind deflectors removed the buffeting for me. My 07 RK made noises too when it was stage 1. Now that it is a 107" it is downright clackety. It is the nature of the beast. As one mechanic friend put it, "serious problems make serious noises".
Have you added the IDS? It got rid of the 'marbles in a tin can' noise for me.

Look into a re curve shield from Longrideshields. Heard a lot of good results from them and they are a forum sponsor.
Many thanks for the replies. bbauman which chrome deflectors do you mean, if it is the nature of the beast I will have to try & get my head round it, as one tech told me keep revs over 2000, might have to change my riding ways.
Soft 02, will look into these screens, thanks. was told there is a firm in the States that make a deflector that fits on the front top edge this pushes the wind up higher, have you heard of these?
Fairing lowers look good on road Kings, and they really cut down on buffeting and keep you dry and warm if your riding in bad weather. as a bonus, you get more storage.
HD Chrome Deflectors Part # 58121-85B. They go along the forks and help create a larger pocket of stable air behind the windshield cutting down on head buffeting.
For the buffeting, you might try a simple solution, especially if you think you may end up selling. The Desert Dawgs wind deflectors will take out a lot of that wind that comes up and under your chin: http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/dese...-street-glide/
Desert Dawgs or the cheaper, less attractive Harley soft lowers do take wind off you but they sure make my bike run hot. They are a must for rain and cold weather riding though.
Oddly, I get a little more head buffeting with the soft lowers but it is random knocks from a push to slap upside the helmet. Probably wind gusts and much preferred to the cold or wet that the lowers are protecting me from!
