Default roadking ping

i have an 06 roadking with a lil more than 63000 miles on ,motor wise the only upgrade ive done is true duals with modified stock mufflers . if i ride doin 80 mph or more for too long my motor starts to sound like a marble was dropped into one of my cylinders . it starts off spuratic and levels into a steady ping that keeps time with the rpms( if i raise the rpm's the ping speeds up , if i lower the rpm's the ping slows down ). i only run high octain , ive changed my plugs and wires for screamin eagle plugs and 8mm wires and its has new oil in it . i ws thinkin it was pre ignition pinging , but now i dont know. and besides the noise it doesnt seem to affect the power that i've noticed . does anyone have any ideas what it could be ?

it sounds like pre ignition ping by what you're describing. do you have any kind of fuel management system that will allow you to retard the timing a little? I dropped my timing 2 degrees in the open throttle range using the thundermax and it took care of my ping. if in fact it's pre ignition.

how long has it been doing this if you have 60k plus?

I doubt you are hearing a ping if you can hear it on decel. Top ends on these motors are noisey, and some more then others. 2006 TC's are known for several issues. Do a search on camshaft, shoes, cams, followers, noise, rattle, tensioner. etc. I think this is mosre likely what you are hearing, not a ping.
