Get the color you really like. If that's,the 2012 get it and save some cash for upgrades. All bikes depreciate so get the one that speaks to you.

For the next 5 years the 2012 will have cheaper payments if that means anything to ya.
Other than that, buy the color you like.

In situations like this I just remind myself that everyday is a gift and I may not be here tomorrow. Do what makes you happy!!

I was settling for a leftover black '11 RK and saw their was a custom color orange '12 RKC. It was worth over $4k more to me, I knew I would be looking at it every day and probably not see another one.

If you're planning on keeping the bike a good while get the cheaper of the two. If you have the extra $1,600 in spare change invest it. With any luck, by the time you're ready to sell the bike you buy you'll have doubled your investment.

Wait until the 2014 models come out, and then the brand new 2013 will be $1600 less....

It's a vicious cycle. Waiting for the good deal doesn't always ensure happiness. You've got to go with your heart sometimes. Get the scoot that makes you glad, that way you'll never be sad.... Buying for resale is completely a lost cause.

If you are looking at resale value already maybe you shouldn't buy one at all. There's always gonna be a better deal down the road. Get what makes you happy. With that said, I would buy the 12 if I could live with the color.

You're paying $1600 less now...and in five years it's going to be worth $1700 less. So you are basically talking about $100 here. Do you really want/need our opinion on $100? Okay, buy the one that you think looks the best.
BTW you could probably save a quite a bit more(about $3000) if you bought a used low mileage '09-'10 from a private party.
