Can't figure why the more expensive Road King Classic gets the crappy above the tail light license plate mount that looks like it was stuck on as an afterthought while the cheaper Standard Road King gets the cleaner looking under the tail light set up???
What is the easiest way to relocate the plate under the tail light?
Anyone make a kit to do this with?
maybe the styling dept. is trying to stay true to the "vintage look" which mounted the plate above the taillight on vintage models- the RK Classic is supposed to "look" like an old model
if you want to swap, they are interchangeable- get the one you want... 2 bolts.
you may have to figure out wiring the plate light.
no big deal.
some of us with detached tour paks use the RK signal bar

Get a Street Glide fender perhaps or the cheaper RG one then? lolol...
Uh, yeah...thanks.
But I'm kind of looking for things other than the obvious answers.
I checked HD site as well as Kury and Drag Specialties and I did not see anything like a simple relocation kit that lets you just swap out the mount without having to change the fender..
You'd think this would be a fairly popular item??
Yes I know I'd have to find a way to cover the holes but thats the easy part.

The Classic has a more nostalgic style statement than the "standard" Road King; 16 " wire wheels, white walls, bags, and not least of all, the above the tail light license plate mount.
The above the tail light license plate mount is the classic mount.

Thanks, that"s more along the lines of what I had in mind.....does not give much detail about how it mounts though, or if anything else has to be swapped out??
I picked up a nice laydown bracket at the HD Dealer for my 11 RKC. It didn't actually say it would fit my bike but it's the standard 3 hole mount so any of those will work. I think the fit said Universal, not touring specific.

Nostalgic I like....cheaply stuck on with that chintzy $5.00 stock mount I don't.....
