Hey, I'm quite familiar with the normal functionality of the hands free security system in Harley's - had it on my 08 dyna, just noticed something weird on the used 2011 road king I just bought.... Got it at the dealership, came with 2 fobs and everything but the system doesn't seem to be active - no blinking light, bike starts when the fob is not present, no blinking lights if you move te bike etc.... Almost as if the bike didn't come with security but then why the fobs??? The bike is like new with very low miles and the owners manuals were still shrink wrapped (never opened)...... Is it possible that the fobs were never assigned by te original dealer? Any ideas before I embarrass myself and call te dealer?
I wonder if the dealer installed the security, but did activate the FOB's? I wouldn't be embarrassed to ask them. Believe it or not I have heard it happen before

You mean installed the system but didn't activate the fobs? ..... That's the only thing I can think of..... That would be pretty funny actually cuz it means the first owner had it for a year and a half, rode 5000 miles and never noticed....
If it starts with the fob not present, then either it does not have security or it has been bypassed. If you bought it and were told the bike had security, I would definitely talk to the dealer.
I guess its possible the bike doesnt have security but then what am I doing with two security FOBS? seems like it probably has it but its not activated... any way to check myself?
I'd let the Stealer check it out! If it has the security system, and it sounds like it does since you have the 2 fobs, they can check it out and even give you the opportunity to set your own security code. Might be time to change the batteries in the fobs too!
