That is very possible. It will say in the manual how to turn off transport mode.

With the fob present, turn the ignition switch to IGN to disarm the system. To cancel the transport mode, set the engine stop switch to RUN.

It's possible that the previous owner had the security system turned off.

If you search for it, you'll find that a number of people on this board disliked the security features and have had the dealership disable it.

You're probably going to have to go to a dealer in order to get it working if your bike is actually equipped with it.

well this would have been done cuz I've been riding the thing so that rules out transport mode...

the previous owner disableing it or the system never having been activated in the first place seem like the most logical things..... guess I'll have to go to the dealer and find out.

Try this

1. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, turn the ignition switch ON-off-ON-off-ON
2. Press the LEFT turn switch 2 TIMES and release
3. Turn the ignition switch back off

If you have a security system, you should see the turn signals and indicators flash 2 times.

Hey thanks for all the ideas everybody..... I went to the dealer today and mystery solved...... The original owner, for whatever reason, never had the security system enabled... The dealer says it was probably an oversight by the original dealer and the guy didn't know his security wasn't working... Anyway it's all set up and working perfectly now.... Took 10 minutes

Wrote a long post and then realized you figured it out. Glad it was an easy fix.

excellent. now make sure that you have set your own pin code, and know how to use it. it doesn't help if you set it but don't know how to use it.
