With the fob present, turn the ignition switch to IGN to disarm the system. To cancel the transport mode, set the engine stop switch to RUN.
well this would have been done cuz I've been riding the thing so that rules out transport mode...
the previous owner disableing it or the system never having been activated in the first place seem like the most logical things..... guess I'll have to go to the dealer and find out.

Try this
1. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, turn the ignition switch ON-off-ON-off-ON
2. Press the LEFT turn switch 2 TIMES and release
3. Turn the ignition switch back off
If you have a security system, you should see the turn signals and indicators flash 2 times.
Hey thanks for all the ideas everybody..... I went to the dealer today and mystery solved...... The original owner, for whatever reason, never had the security system enabled... The dealer says it was probably an oversight by the original dealer and the guy didn't know his security wasn't working... Anyway it's all set up and working perfectly now.... Took 10 minutes
They didn't install it. Happened to me last year...I got the FOBs too. Make sure you lock those forks until the dealer installs because there is nothing stopping someone from firing it up.
That's why this community is here, to equip us all with every possible option before we visit with the Stealer! Glad it worked out for you. Now enjoy your ride!

excellent. now make sure that you have set your own pin code, and know how to use it. it doesn't help if you set it but don't know how to use it.
