I just had my security system installed from the dealer...the one that uses an FOB to disarm the security when you're within range...not sure what the exact name is...
anyway...
long story short....I seemed to have misplaced my keys with the FOB and was wondering if I get a replacement FOB and have it reprogrammed, what will happen to the FOB that was lost? Can it still be used to disarm the security system? Is there any way i can have that FOB removed from my security system because i wouldn't want just anybody jumping on my bike and riding off with it. I asked the dealer and they said they are not sure...and purchasing an entire new system is really expensive....any ideas?
You can get a new fob at the dealer, when I had my security system installed I got 2 fobs just in case.
The they should have set up a passcode you can using the Turn signals for you to get the bike started.
I'd imagine when you get a new fob, it'll be for your bike. If someone finds the other one, what's the chance they'll find your bike? It's like someone finding your house or car keys. There's not much of a chance they can find your bike.
I'd also think replacing and reprogramming a new fob won't be cheap.
I'm not 100% sure how the Harley system works, but normally when you program a new keyfob the old one will no longer work unless its reprogrammed at the same time.

Apparently you kept your FOB and keys on the same ring? If so, that sort of defeats the purpose of the security system. I keep my Fob on a ring with my house keys, etc. and my scooter, truck, etc. keys on individual rings.
check out t-bear's post above.
You will be OK if you make sure to reset the security code after you get a new FOB. At least this would be good advice if your system is like mine.
If you don't have one, get at least an owners manual for your scooter.
Trade the bike for a Panhead. You've shown you're too irresponsible for a fob. The security will be the same...most people today wouldn't know how to start a Panhead.

TSSM can only have 2 FOB's married to it at a time. If you buy a new FOB, about $33 from LSHD1.com, the dealer will have to marry it to the bike, usually dealers charge the min 1/2 hour to do it, it takes a couple of minutes.
