Default Does muffler shape matter?

I finally decided on just doing Vance and Hines slip ons on my stock 2012 Road King headers. I am still on the fence as to which model to chose. Curious, is there any performance or sound difference between oval and round mufflers or is it just looks? I am going with big sucker high flow and the LCD fuelpak. I am open to suggestions.

Performance wise I think they are pretty equal
I am using V&H Twin Slash Rounds and according to V&H they are louder than the ovals .

2010 FLHTC V&H Power Duals,Twin Slash Rounds,VO2 intake,Fuelpak

I could feel more "guts" on mine when I put on Vance & Hines High Outputs, but I also have Vance & Hines Power Dulas headers. There defintely is a difference in sound. I didn't like the sound of the Monster Ovals when I heard them. Well, not for me anyway. Not what I was looking for.

shape is basically just for looks.the sound depends on baffles and how free flowing the exhaust is. the exception is if you have an open megaphone shape, it is going to be louder.

Bigger diameter will usually give a deeper sound

If I am not mistaken, I think my monster ovals have a round muffler inside the oval shaped outer skin.

bigger muffler case also means more weight on the saddlebag supports. On older bikes made the saddlebag supports break more often.. Not sure about the newer frame bikes..
