Just another reason to shop around and buy private. Check CL, eBay, etc. you can find numerous deals out there. In NV there's no sales tax on private party sales, another plus to go private... Did I mention that I do not care for dealers?

so it's not theft- it's "responding to market demands"

I think you missed the point. I know if you spend x$ on the bike it's not theft - price is dictated by the market and what an individual will pay. That's not my issue here. What is an issue to me is that the dealers will not pay for the extra parts you put on your bike but will charge the buyer of your bike for those parts parts once the bike is sold. So if you put $5000 worth of upgrades on your bike you'll get nothing for those parts but the dealer will markup the trade by the value of those parts. To me if they don't pay for the extras on your bike then they shouldn't markup the bike for the extras when selling. As someone else said that's why they are called 'stealerships'.

steal (stl)v. stole (stl), sto·len (stln), steal·ing, steals
v.tr.1. To take (the property of another) without right or permission.

Again no one is forcing you to take your bike in and sell it to them. Like already stated it makes more sense to keep stock parts and swap them out if your trading in. I would never trade my bike in with the add ons I have.

Thats for sure. The only thing that stays in my bike when i trade it, is the cams. Unless i have a private buyer.

Actually your right. I do have a big bore kit that would stay on the bike, but everything else would be swapped out unless like you said a private buyer want to buy it as is.

So for the big bore kit the dealer gives you nothing but will turnaround and increase the market value of the bike by the equivalent amount of the upgrade.

Yes if I choose to trade it in. They are in the business of buying low and sellling high. Arent we all? I get what your saying, it doesn't seem right or fair. But again its not theft or stealing

Simple supply and demand. if there's no demand the price will drop. Leave them your number and a price and tell them to call you when the price drops.

Since it's used, bringing it to canada should not be a issue...

Gotta love it..... saving a whole 1300 off msrp from new....
