About a month ago I bought a 2012 new Ultra Classic 103. I wanted to put different exhaust, head pipes, and air cleaner on it. Or a stage one set up. I ask the sales man at the time if I could just do a down load from Harley like they used to do. I other words a map for the set up I was putting on. He said they Harley didn't do that anymore. They only sold their tuner, which of course requires you dyno it. Plus total it's about 700 bucks. So believing him I installed V&H power duals, 4" Rineharts, and S&S air cleaner. I didn't want to have to spend the money for the Harley tuner and dyno, so I bought a Power Commander V. Works fine. I have a friend that is trading at a different dealership and they said they do downloads all the time for about 150 bucks. That's about half the price of the PCV. So I guess I got lied to. Just really makes me mad. What has been you guys experience?
Best option is to get a Power Vision from Jamie at Fuel Moto, he'll give you a map thats close, and with the new tuning features you can dial it in yourself.
I would go with a PowerVision, the interface and user ability to data log and import that to the map to make improvements is great. Also, Fuelmoto can tweak what you send them and customize a map for you.

About $479 if I'm not mistaken.
+1......
I have a 2012 Ultra Limited that I rode cross-country. I added SE255 cams, exhaust, air cleaner, and the Harley download (it does exist, your dealer lied to you) because I wanted to have the warranty on my trip.
When I got home from the trip, I got a PV with a map from Jaime at FuelMoto. It was more expensive than the download, but much cheaper than $700. The bike ran much better than with the HD download. The difference was obvious and it felt like a different bike......!
Yeah, your sales guy didn't give you factual info. 1.) The dealers can still do the download, and 2.) You do not need to get your bike dyno'd if you add the SE tuner.
BUT, he actually did you a favor because the download is absolutely a waste of money. Even more so on the 2012's (103s) than the earlier TCs. The bike will still run too lean and put off a lot of heat.
Thanks for you comments, but I did buy my PCV from FuelMoto. I was just wondering about the Harley download.
Not much to wonder about. Been there done that wasted my time and money......................
It sounds like your dealer did do you a favor need to go back and thank them.
Not an either or.
The SERT is by far the best there is . Not an add on but a true link to the EMC.
However not many need something that over the top.
There are many piggy back systems that all work well some offer more flexibility than others more option more cost.
TFI, PCV just two of an endless list .
Problem with the down load is it only brings you back to a stock EPA compliment Air to fuel. You gain nothing.
Bite the bullet pick an add on that meets your needs.
