D.V. - the spokes are why I wanted to lock it in even though I can't pick it up till Tuesday, I've been set on wanting them, and they're the first dealer of several I've been to that has that color with spokes in stock.
I've got to nail down a few details Tuesday when I go in (like do I want an extended service plan, and if so how long?) but it's essentially a done deal. I'm naturally super-excited, my first brand new HD - first brand new bike period! Now I'll have had (and still have) a '56 Panhead, a '99 Evo Sportster, and now a '13 Bagger. (not counting metrics)
What are your guy's thoughts on the ESP's? I can get a 7-year extended warranty for $1700 over purchase price. Seems like a good deal, unless HD tries to weasel out of warranty coverage. But I've heard nothing but good reports on the Bakersfield dealer and their service.
Thanks for all the congrats and the advice along the way!
Bill

The warranty runs concurent with the standard hd warranty. For 1700 I would have them include the tire and wheel coverage too especially with spoke wheels. If you plan on changing bars, wheels and bigger motor the warranty may not be helpful. If you leave it stock and ride the bike often then it could come in handy especially with the compensator issues lately
Hog95023 - other than stage 1 pipes & AC, I dont plan on any major mods (cosmetics, yeah - seat, detachable tour pack, maybe windscreen, but no mechanical changes planned).
I'm leaning towards going with the ESP - 7 years is a long time and a lot of miles, with a lot of things that could go wrong. $1700 is relatively cheap security in the grand scheme of things, especially when talking about a $25k+ investment.
Also I was under impression the ESP was 5 year term with two running concurrent with the reg warranty. Did it get extended to seven years now? 1700 is steep but make sure it includes the tire/ wheel coverage for that price. You may be able to get them down to 1200-1400 for both coverages.
