Default CB Radio ???

After reading several posts about issues with the CB, I decided to put my factory whip back on and try it out. I put my headset on, turned on the radio, hit the com button, and turned on the the CB. The radio would play thru the headset until I hit the PTT or turned the squelch all the way down. Is there a way to just use the CB without having the radio on? It plays AM, FM, CD, or WB anytime its on. Is this the way the intercom works too? My wifes been wanting a headset so we can talk without hollering, but I don't want to have to listen to the radio thru the headset the whole time.

Just turn the radio volume to mute if you don't want to hear it.

Do you have to mute the radio before you plug in the headset? Once the sound came thru the headset I could only turn it up and down with the volume. I eihter had volume for all or none at all. PITA

I believe the rocker switch on the "dash" controls how things work. I don't have the owners manual in foront of me. I know that I use the switch on the road as mute when needed. I believe the middle position allows for radio through speakers and CB/intercom through headset. The position closest to the rider puts everything through the headset. Don't quote me on it though.

on my 07 it's switch forward headset only for everything, switch middle cb and intercom thru headset, music thru speakers, switch back (light on) everything thru speakers. Same thing tho, check your manual, cause it gets confusing after awhile.

There are three volume adjustments. One for the radio, one for the intercom and one for the CB. If you are in CB mode, the volume up/dn adjust the CB and some for each of the others. It doesn't matter when you plug your head set in. The speaker switch just selects where the audio goes.

If you turn your radio volume down, you can still adjust the cb volume.

Ifyou want to use only the CB, push the CB button and leave it in setup mode.
Rocker switch all the way forward, light out= headset only
Rocker switch all the way back towards you, light on= all speakers

Hope this helps.
