I really like the RG much more!
That is a sweet RG. I just bought a 13. Looking at windshields. That looks good on your RG. Which one is that? Size looks perfect..

A Girl's Bike? LOL
I would think that any "REAL Man" who puts down Women or others own views on any bike.....or any "Real Man" who either owns or requires a Harley that has a Windshield, Stereo, Hand Warmers, Saddle Bags, Cup Holders and a Cigarette lighter, is not much of a Man......to begin with!
Apparently, my own observations of the Road Glide, are not mine alone?
"IF" the Road Glide was the Ultimate Bike, that some of you happen to think that it is, Harley would be making and selling ONLY that One Model.
Different Strokes for Different Folks!
Test Rides prove absolutely Nothing at all.
They are WaY Too SHORT and Restrictive for one, and only time and some Miles will tell, whether or not, you are suited for that Bike or not.
As so many of the previous writers have stated......they had to learn to enjoy their Road Glides.....over a period of time.
The type or style of a Different Fairing on the exact same Bike.....does not Translate into that Bike.....being either a Girls Bike or a Guys bike?
What an Ignorant comment that is!
But the word Fairing, does not fall short from the word "Fairy"?
A term or phrase, that I have HEARD used more than once... towards Riders who require Windshields, Stereos and Bags on their own bikes!
So.......before you start to pound your Macho Chest while thinking that a Road Glide is more "Manly" than a "Girly" Street Glide is.....you should really reconsider that one.......Big Time! lol
Beaking off... at a woman or any women in general, who happen to own and ride Harleys.......is pretty Sad to begin with.
Getting back to Test Rides...I am sure that all you Single or Divorced Riders out there, all took the Ex for a few Test Rides......before .....you found out that she was not for YOU...or YOU for her!
Does that make you less of a Man.....because you found out. or she found out......that you were not the Ride for her?
It is all about Choices, and likes and dislikes.
But .......REAL MEN.......do not put down Women.......especially Women that own and ride Harleys.
I used to own a Road Glide.......I guess in a way, that certainly does make it "a Girls Bike"! lol
After all.......the Road Glide does come with a "Fairy".......oops......I meant a "Fairing"!
Windshields, Stereos, Hand Warmers, Coffee Cup Holders, GPS systems, Heated Vests and Bags to hold your MAN purse.....seriously......just how Macho is that type of Bike? lol
Yup.......this Tiny Little Girl used to own a Road Glide......guess that wrecks your whole MACHO Image, doesn't it?
Sorry to tell you there Macho guy......that Couch on Wheels, doesn't do much for your Image either! lol

LMAO

hand warmers, cup holders, man's purse?

Shows how much you really know

And where was anyone put down?

The only one here who doesn't know what they are talking about is YOU!. Plus you are the one that said a Road Glide wasn't for you............That a Street Glide was better suited for you a girl...........hence a girls bike. Too much for you to understand?

The only ignorant poster here is YOU, with all the misinformation YOU posted. You obviously bought more bike that YOU could/can handle.
Go back and re-read what you originally posted and see how misinformed you really are, but before you do..................

Get back in the kitchen and make me a samwich

That's good advice! Buffeting and other factors have so much to do with how your built, and how you actually sit the bike that there's really no way to tell someone else what would be good for them.

Yep, and LMAO watching miss flaming hair run around in the middle of the room demanding everyone's attention while shrieking about how much of a biker she is.

One thing that's coming across loud and clear is that she's never learned (and probably the #1 rule or very close to it anyway) that if someone shows respect then they get respect but if they don't then... well... it's the I-Net so they'll at least get totally ignored but by then, it's too late. So far anyway, she's off to a pretty poor start.

A SUGGESTION FOR HER:

Stop bashing others for having their opinion while demanding that the only valid opinion is YOUR opinion. Then turning right around and being the champion for women's rights and rights of individuals????? Your head is spinning girl.

Chill a little and get acquainted instead of trolling.

Seriously...you're posts have crossed the border into ridiculous territory. We all have our opinions and we all like different things, that's what makes life interesting. Lets just leave it at that and move on. Also, punctuation; seriously look into that. It's hard to take your posts seriously when it looks like you typed it with your face.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm in the same boat as the OP. Just test rode both 2012 SG and RG yesterday. Both handled much better than my softail, and I was quite surprised how easy it was to flick them around through tight turns. It definitely opened my eyes about the maneuverability of baggers! And that ride...so comfy! I didn't even realize I was doing 75 until I looked at the speedo. Both are great machines, and I will be trading my softail in for one.

The biggest difference I felt between the two was the feeling in the "cockpit" so to speak. The RG with the forward mounted fairing gave it a big open feeling. The bars were a little forward from where I would want them on that bike, but that's an easy fix. I did have to lean forward a bit to reach the radio, but its not too bad. I'm only 5'9" and am more leg than arm, so YMMV. Taller or more arm length gifted people would have no problem. Highway buffeting was there, but a slightly taller shield and some wind deflectors on the bottom of the fairing will totally fix that.

I took the SG for a spin after the RG and I felt cramped as soon as I pulled out of the parking lot. The fairing is right in your face, but it made the stereo super easy to manipulate and the gauges easy to see. The handlebars on this bike were in the perfect position for me stock, so that was awesome. Buffeting was there more so than the RG, which I'm sure can be fixed easily with a taller shield. Handling was slightly more sluggish around town, but just slightly, nothing to write home about. It was still much easier to handle than I had originally thought.

If you held a gun to my head and told me I had to choose one right now (terrible dilemma eh?) I would go with the RG. I just liked the big open feel of the fairing more than the closed, snug feel of the SG. Maybe I just felt the SG was tight since I had just been on a RG, who knows. Either way it's a win-win in my opinion. Time to do some thinking and get the wallet ready for the pain.

You'll love either ride...I do since I own both...but don't worry about the reaching the radio deal. After owning the bike two days I have never had a reason to reach for the radio since all the needed controls are on the bars and once you master them you'll never need to reach. Unless you are changing CDs and you really should't be doing that at speed.

Great, thanks for the info!

I figured there had to be a way to scroll through the radio presets with the hand controls. I just didn't take the time to fiddle with it enough to figure it out. Too busy riding and whatnot
