roadkingbigjoe... I think this is one of those "if you've got to ask, you don't get it". There are a lot of professions that are dangerous... miners, truckers, farmers, etc. BUT... cops, firefighters, EMTs, military all put their lives on the line everyday for the rest of us and usually for a lot less pay than other professions. I think they deserve a little break. The fact is that if you price the Limited Editions... Firefighter, Police, Patriot... they run $2-300 more than stock.. for that on the Patriot Editionyou get a small medallion for your branch of service (note that word!) and a clear-coated flag on the rear fender... oh, and the most important... the PRIDE of having served! BTW... they delivered my 07 Vivid Black Patriot Edition (USMC) last night to my home... WOW... a beautiful bike... can't wait for the snow to melt!
I walked into my local dealership, told a salesman friend of mine that I wanted to order a 2007 Peace Officer Special Edition Ultra Classic, vivid black in color. We agreed on a price and I ordered the bike. I picked it up in December and love the bike. The fact that Harley Davidson offers this benefit to law enforcement officers is something that Harley chose to do. I suspect that if the Motor Company offered a discount to roadkingbigjoe because of his chosen profession, hisresponse would probably be, "Thank you!" Harley offers the same bikes for Firefighters, Shriners, and Military personnel. I appreciate the discount that Harley provided to me on my new bike. I would have been foolish not to accept the deal.
I was told it was up to the dealer.... that harley did not give a factory discounted price on these models. Years back they offered huge discounts ( 2k on a dresser ) but now they are a couple hundred higher than a comporable model. I didn't order one because of the identification that some other person may have had a conflict with. Harley had a very reasonable lease for police department bikes but latelyI hear that increased substantially. I enjoyed riding the bike on patrol but it sure had its risks. Believe me.... it was not all pleasure .
Not sure what discount that is... the Military Patriot Edition Ultra is $20,385 vs non-edition Ultra is $20,195 ... that a couple hundred more... but I love my Patriot USMC !
You know if you guys want to slam me for stating an opinion fine go for it. just remember it was a opinion to a guy who came on here talking about the "discount" he gets just for doing his job. If you guys really want to know. john, I am engineer plastics industry and when young people ask me about a career I accualy steer them towards law enforcement or fire fighting, the job is way more stable, pay is better, you will end up with way more time off to do what ever it is you love to do. And as far as never being home on a holiday or missing your kids games, oh no my brother-in-law a cop and has been at every holiday and at all hiskids games, so I dont want to hear it. Work 80+ hours to bring a delievery date in then stand there and complain about the hours. You know God bless you that you have a "job" you love to do, but don't stand there and think your better than everyone one and expect a discount.
Now let me say I don't even put our american soldiers inthe same slot as cops, sorry we do owe them something!
Well,... looks like I will be ordering me a new 07 Road King,....well, as soon as the persons financing comes through on the purchase of my 06 Dyna. I have already gotten my price quote in writing on an 07 Peace Officers Special Edition Road King. What is the difference, other than the tank decals between the standard road king model and the peace officers special edition model? I know I can save quite a bit on the peace officers edition over the standard model, they appear exactly the same other than the decals on the tank.

First off, you will love the Road King. Hey I looked at the msrp on the two and the peace officer edition is about $300 higher then the standard. Is the dealer giving you a discount for being a cop. I they are in my opinion thats just wrong, now dont get me wrong I do have the up most respect for the job they do, but its just a job.A job they are paid well for and can quit anytime they want to. No body gives me anything special because chances are the car they are driving is safer for them and thier family because of my efforts in the design build of the parts on thier car, and they shouldn't. I have many family and friends in both law enforcement and firefighting so this has nothing to do with a dislike of the job, just a understanding its only a job.

Looks to me like you are assuming a discount. For all we know the MoCo ran a few more than they are selling and are offering the dealers a break on them.
