Well,... looks like I will be ordering me a new 07 Road King,....well, as soon as the persons financing comes through on the purchase of my 06 Dyna. I have already gotten my price quote in writing on an 07 Peace Officers Special Edition Road King. What is the difference, other than the tank decals between the standard road king model and the peace officers special edition model? I know I can save quite a bit on the peace officers edition over the standard model, they appear exactly the same other than the decals on the tank.
First off, you will love the Road King. Hey I looked at the msrp on the two and the peace officer edition is about $300 higher then the standard. Is the dealer giving you a discount for being a cop. I they are in my opinion thats just wrong, now dont get me wrong I do have the up most respect for the job they do, but its just a job.A job they are paid well for and can quit anytime they want to. No body gives me anything special because chances are the car they are driving is safer for them and thier family because of my efforts in the design build of the parts on thier car, and they shouldn't. I have many family and friends in both law enforcement and firefighting so this has nothing to do with a dislike of the job, just a understanding its only a job.
Just a job where somebody is always pi$$ed that you are there - or weren't there when they needed you. Just a job where your family worries that you might not come home. Been there, done that, have the scars to prove it.
Enjoy your Peace Officers model - and take pride in two great traditions.
Hey Teachu2,
I understand what your saying my only point is just because you have a badge it should not entitle you to anything extra in the way of discounts on anything. Your reward should be in doing your job well and getting paid for it. Outside of that the reward should just be personal, helping a child, an elderly person, anything like that, but thats something you should do for your self not to get extra reward.
and again thats just my opinion and I will always show a officer the respect he deserves.(yes sir, no sir)
Well bottom line is any public servant. which also includes fire fighters as well are typically one the lower end of the pay scale for a well edcuated professional. We do it because we love our work and our jobs and we choose to be on the front line here at home.I also admire our soldiers who are there protecting our freedom abroad. Non of us expect a discount because of what we do, but the Motor Company and many dealers offer a discount as a way of thanks. I am very grateful along with every other soldier, fire fighter, and police officer. So I will have to disagree with you,.... It's NOT just a job. I really didnt start this thread to get into it with someone about my profession or ifpeace officeris deserving of any possiblesmall discount offered by the Motor Company. So maybe you can just call any discount that might be given as a way to tell everyone of us that there are many people here in this country who are thankful for all that we do. But you too are also able to recieve the same smal discount as well,.... All you have to do is go to college, go to and pass police academy, then start for the first several years at terrible pay and the worst shift in the worst beat areas. Then miss everyone of your childs sporting events and be away from home every holiday so others can feel safe in their homes with their family. So lets keep this topic on something that we can all agree on and thats our love of riding, and dont worry about if some guy gets a lil better price than the next guy.
And if a dealer wants to give him a special price - that's between them. Sure doesn't hurt to have the cops in your area be extra aware of your store, especially in the middle of the night. Many businesses give discounts - to cops, firemen, friends, repeat customers, club members, women with big.....well, you get the picture. I guess I'm trying to say it's none of our business!
roadkingbigjoe---thats just planbs. Anybody that puts their life on the line as a cop, firefighter, member of the military, etc, deserves a little more recognization then the average citizen. If Harley or anybody else wants to recognize their contributions thru a discount, more power to em!...just my opinion.
