Default Abs ?

Hey Guys,

I stopped by my dealership the other day with my wife, and she was giving green light signs on trading for a new Road King I was looking at. I was a bit surprised and it started my wheels turning in my brain.

It doesnt have ABS. Do yall think that is a must have on a new Touring weight bike ? or not a big deal ? Like to hear yalls opinions

Thanks

There are lots of posts on this - tons. If you are a highly skilled rider, you may determine that this is not necessary. I have it and am happy with my purchase of the ABS.

I don't want ABS. But a bunch of guys here will say I'm wrong and enforce their opinion on you.

So to me it's no big deal. But I'd prefer not to have it.

And the search **** will be here to tell you this has been gone over 100 times. Just a heads up.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a HD without ABS. Of course you can do without it, but if you ever need it, ABS can save your hide. Just my 2 cents worth.........

I never had it before this bike. Never really thought it was needed, but now that I have it and know how well it works I don't think I'll ever buy another big bike without it.

I rode for 44 years without ABS. In the 2 years that I've had them, they have only activated a couple of times. Once on gravel, and once or twice when going over a bump. That was when my suspension was stock. Now that I have Ohlins, the ABS hasn't kicked in at all.

Could I do without them...... probably

Do I want them gone........... no

Thanks for not asking about oil

RFG - you're so right! I hate that, when you ask a question....I digress, back to the OP:

This is my personal experience just a few days ago:

Yes, it saved mine and my sons life! I've been riding street bike for 19yrs, can't say i'd be writing this post had I not had them, IMHO.

Good luck and grats on the green light...tuff choice.

It's a safety feature. Cars, and many European bikes, have had it for a long time.
I would not buy a new bike without ABS.

I guess it depends on if you want the most efficient means of braking in a panic stop.
