Default Gear shift linkage

I pulled the shift lever shaft and greased it up and refitted everything, replacing the stupid ball joints on the linkage with heim joints, shifts a lot smoother now with no more rattle from the shift set up.

One of the best upgrades you can do is replace the ball joints to heim joints

I'm interested in the heim parts and where they came from. I had a ball fall out of the shift rod when it was worn out. Pulled into town and tried to downshift with nothing attached. Pulled into a station and found a wire tie from a bread wrapper to hold things together long enough to get home. Where can i get a Heim joint to replace ehte ball joints?

Not a kuryakn fan but I bought the flame linkage. Very nice. It tightened things up and that linkage is a quality product.

Mine fell apart while my indy was working on it. I did away with the factory style and went with:

It has a heim joint. Seems a lot better but perhaps another thing to rattle some.

Heim joints from H-D are part #33871-85B (sifter rod end) and were about $9.75 ea. a while ago. Cheaper can definitely be had elsewere!
