Who has installed the additional power plug on an Ultra? I just bought one from my local Harley dealer and the instructions seem straight forward. It makes me nervous that I will be drilling a 7/8 inch hole in the right side engine cover. Has anyone done this mod and if so do you have a picture of it? I would like to make sure I’m aligning the template up correctly before I start drilling.
It also calls for the plug to be plugged in to the accessory plug located under the seat by the battery. It also appears there is an accessory plug located behind the right side engine cover. My manual doesn’t show that plug behind the engine cover only the one under the seat. Can I use that plug? It sure would be more convenient.
I believe the assy. plug is under the seat. Mine was. I didn't drill the hole, I ran the wires under the seat and the outlet is hidden behind the saddlebag. No mounting, it just sits there and it's easy to use.

Aren't you worried about it getting wet and corroding?
Not really. I keep the rubber cover on it and the case looks like the one I put on my boat that gets wet a lot. It's probably made by the same company.
What looks like an accessory plug under the right side cover is the data link connector to the ECM; that is, if it is gray in color and fits next to the ECM.

Yup yup thats what it is...the data link...and you really don't want to try to plug into that for power.
It is shown in the 06 Touring Models Service Manuel, Appendix B, Page B-31, Figure B-45.
It is labeled connector [91] and is in the legend as Data link.
Skip: The cigarette lighter on EG's has two push on electrical connectors. It's a simple removal--once the outer fairing is off the bike, pull the connectors from their tabs and, simply unscrew the inner fairing portion of the lighter while holding the exterior part.
If the lighter isn't working, check the push on connectors if you haven't done so already.
