I didnt think you were suppose to go into 6th during break in?
From what I remember from selling them and when I bought my 04 brand new I thought between rpms and overdrive you really shouldnt be on the highway for a while, 500 miles? 1000 ? I cant remember, I am sure you have the break ins in your book.
Guys would come in and say they were planning a long trip, so they wanted to pick up their bikes and leave that week, and we would have to remind them, you really need to follow the beak in points before you just go blasting down the freeway.

The service guy and the manual both said for first 50, keep the revs below 3000 and don't lug it, vary the rpm's, and from 51-500 miles, below 3500 and vary the revs without lugging it - and don't fly off the start. Didn't say anything about 6th gear - but I've been mostly keeping it out of 6th, keeping it in 5th keeps me in the legal speed limit.
I've already got about $3k in accessories ordered, and I keep going through the catalog to see what else I want to add.
They were actually a touring group from Germany. Talked to the tour guide - with his broken English - and he sets up these 10 day plus tours of CA on rented Harleys and brings these groups over from Germany. I got the impression they had been riding quite awhile when they stopped at the shop - they didn't speak much English so I didn't talk to them much.

Congrats on the new X very nice bike. The more I ride mine the more I like it. 24K miles on my 2010. I too thought it was fast a while back, added TW6-6, ECM, and saving for the 107 or a 110 used motor. Enjoy the ride, enjoy the journey and take you time looking ad the costly mods, make sure they are what you want. Congrats again!
