Default blinker flashing issue

I know this has been discussed a lot, but I cant find a answer to my issue. My 2008 street glide blinkers started blinking rapid. It is both left and right. Blink a few times normal then rapid. All bulbs are working. Stock lighting, no recent changes. Any suggestions? Only thing I can offer up that I have done was plugged in a trailer to check lights on that, which all worked. The trailer plug has been on bike for a couple years with no issue. I cant see how that would cause a issue. Any help is appreciated!

I thought it was a bulb out or that you installed an LED somewhere. This one is puzzling, but welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to the forum. Check your blinker fluid... ok had to say it. LOL Check the wiring, somewhere something is shorting.

never ran a trailer on any of my bikes but when I hook the bass boat and trailer up to my Blazer it makes the directionals blink faster.

It blinks fast even when trailer is not attached. No led lights, all bulbs are lit and blinking, and blinker fluid looks great! I am stumped!

It's a 2008??? Perhaps the blinker fluid is old? Needs changing.

On a car, when a bulb goes out, the resistance changes in the system. This change makes the signal control module work faster. Perhaps the signal control module is going bad. They do now and then. In a car it is a matter of replacing it like one would a fuse or circuit breaker.

If that does not work then I would suggest a short in a wire somewhere. If the problem occurs with all signal lights then I would guess that the short is closer to the module than a particular light.

You might do a search for "turn signal module". Though it is for EVOs I came across this;

Well, just for giggles I pulled out all 4 bulbs, wiped off the grease, and put on new grease. To my surprise it actually worked! I appreciate all the response! Although I am thrilled it worked, it still stumps me why all lights were working yet this simple task fixed my problem?! Anyway, thank you all!

Too much resistance. Grease may be giving you a better connection reducing the resistance.

While they may have all been visible the corrosion could create enough extra resistance to change the rate they were flashing.
