Thanks for all the replies. Odd thing is if he rides solo, its hard to replicate the problem. Add a passenger and its easily recreated. Ill ask him to check the caliper and make sure it is seated correctly.

Is it normal for a new rotor and brake pads to thump or pulsate when first installed? He's put around 50 or more miles over weekend and the thumping seems to have disappeared now. Wondering if that was normal or a break in period of sorts.
Also, if the brake pads are worn down pretty good can that cause excessive heat to actually warp the rotor?
