Default Tire install rear brake thumps

A friend of mine has a stock street glide 2010 and just had new tires installed at a local indy. Next day he went for a ride with his wife and when he hits the rear brake it pulsates or thumps like an abs brake, but he doesnt have abs.

Took it back to shop and they said rotor was warped and pads were worn out. replaced rotor and pads and still has same problem. Shop has no idea why, but said since its new rotor and pads they need time to break in.

Anyone know what could be the problem? Now hes scared to ride the bike not knowing if hes doing more harm than good.

I had a new rear tire installed by a harley dealer while is was on a road trip. Got the bike back and road down the road to the first stop and pressing on the rear brake pedal the brake did nothing to stop the bike. The Clown working on the bike handled the rear rotor with oil or grease on his hands. For 100 dollars an hour I would expect some one to check their work. After any time you have work done on your bike be very careful on the first few miles .

Get the bike up on a lift and look and see if the new rotor is bent as well. I can not for the life of me figure out what other than a bent rotor would have these symptoms?

Real simple..... If it didn't do it when he took it in, it shouldn't do it when he got it back.
Indy did something.....

Thanks for the replies. I thought for sure the original rotor was damaged on tire install. The service mgr said that the brake pads were worn down so thin that it created excessive heat and that warped rotor. If that was case it should not have happened on new rotor with new pads.
I suggested he just take it to a different shop for second opinion and get the job done right the first time. We'll see how that turns out.

The rear brake caliper is a floating caliper. It fits in a slot on the swing arm and allows it to float. If its not in the slot, it could be bounceing up and down on top of the swing arm. Just a thought.

The rubber bumper in the caliper may have become dislodged upon reassembly not allowing the caliper to sit correctly and creating the vibration.

I cannot tell you what is causing it, but I don't think the pads or the rotors are bad. It comes and goes. Even using the same pads and rotors, after reseating the pads sometimes it does that, reseat them again and it will go away. It could be like glide or mach said, something is just not lining up right or connecting correctly. I've paid very close attention to what I am doing and when finished I will get that pulsating. After redoing everything exactly as the first time the pulsating will be gone. I haven't been able to figure out what it is, but I do know with all the same parts, sometimes it will and sometimes it won't.
