Your question has been the subject of numerous debates. When I did the stage II 103 on my 2010 street glide I opted to have the manual compression releases installed in my heads. While lot's of guys indicated they were not having issues with the SE 255 flat tops, the service manager at the local dealership indicated they were seeing an increase of starter clutch failures. CCP on the SE 255 flat top combo is generally in the 205 to 210 range due to the early closure of the intake valve making the engine think it has more compression than it really does.
How would a 103 build compare to a stock 103?
I have an 07 with a stock 103, I havent ridden yet though.
They dont need them (Comp release)stock but I guess the compression is enhanced by your cams and mods as compare to a stock 103?
I guess in the end it depends on what your compression is after your mods and build.
I want to do cams and a stage 2 but I am going to put some miles on her first as is.
