This morning it is poring out when I woke up and my van was at the shop and all I had was the bike. I called my brother and he drove me to the shop , he was coming that way anyway. But it got me thinking about riding this time of year in the rain.
I sure do not mind riding in the rain as long as the windshield is on. But I do not have my windshield back on yet.
Just couscous .... if you have to be somewhere and you prefer the bike over a cage do you take the bike in the rain ?
I'll ride in the rain. The thing that bothers me the most about it is that none of my buddies will do it (buncha' pussies). So, it's always solo, but with the right gear (good rain suit, treated boots, 3/4 helmet, and ABS), I think it's fun and much better than not riding at all.
Depends on outside temp and how much rain, if you are around the same beltway as I am, my bike is in the garage today, tomorrow is going to be nice and over 80 so I will be riding tomorrow.
That said, I'll ride for fun when it's cold. I'll only ride in the rain if I have to. If it's raining I take the cage. But hey...at least my cage is a bad *** ride itself.
I ain't real big on leaving in the rain ... but I've ridden 46 of the 50 states and I think that I've got wet ( at least once ) in each of those states ... Having said that I remember one year ( many years ago ) when the only transportation I had ( from late February until almost May ) was the scooter ... I'd leave the house ( rain or snow ) with the ol' girl on the back and we'd head on off to work ... somehow now it doesn't seem as bad now as it did then .... Ah yes, fond memories of a misspent youth ! ... and it was worth every minute!
Active rain and I'll take the car. Threat of rain doesn't bother me and I'll take the bike. Getting there I want to arrive dry. Once on the way home I guess it doesn't matter much.
I've done my time on two wheels in rain, hail, snow, on snow, frosts and ice, through flood water. Weather here in the UK is tame, especially over winter, compared with my earlier days, when I only had bikes.
