A local company that was in business for over a hundred years. They made "Dog Sweaters" They got a HUGE contract with Walmart. Walmart needed more sweaters so they got rid of the other customers. They were super busy for about 4-5 years. Then one day Walmart called to say we can buy these in Japan or where ever for less $$$$$$$$$.

The place closed because it had no other customers. It was dumb to put all the eggs or in this case sweaters in one BASKET!!!!

Dan, that's why I never shop at Wal-Mart.

OP I looked around but can't find anything that discusses HD suppliers for transmission gears. I am not sure how to find out, short of opening one up and looking for the builders code, insignia etc...etc...

Got that right, they have to buy toilet paper for the old BS plant.

The Steel Toe tour is nice, but don't forget to mention they charge you $35 for that one, the regular tour is free. I live 20 minutes from the York plant.

If I had know that B&S was involved I would have stopped changing my oil long ago! With a Briggs I just continue to add oil and never change, best air cooled engine ever built. On a side note my buddy had a honda goldwing that had "Made In The USA" Proudly displayed on the back of the passenger seat. He said they were assembled in the USA with Japanese parts. The American made line is getting fuzzier every day!

I am sure a book was published some years ago about the American motorcycle industry. It not only included Honda, but also two of the other three Jap brands. They may still make bikes there. I'm also sure much of each GW was made in USA, as well as the bikes being assembled.

Amen to that Brother!!!

Honda closed the Ohio plant where GW were made back in 09 ... moved production to Japan.
They make cars there now.
