The guy hand makes them I believe, took a little time to get mine and I'm just the next state over. Maybe a week and a half but he send PM 's to your Ebay letting you know the progress. You have to let him know if its for a 550 or a 660/665 so he can drill the hles in the right spot for the bracket. Its pretty solid, no plastic at all. The wiring harness for your nav still fits beside it between the windshield and the fairingwith no issues. Now I know my speedo is off by a couple miles an hour because I look away from the road less to look at the speed on my 660 than looking down at the speedo so I just use the Nav speedo. I like it, and theres no holes in your fairing to worry about in case you want to trade the bike in later on and want to keep all your nav harness and mounting gear.
Hi from the UK old chap! I have messed around with gps mounts, then discovered something you should consider. With it bar mounted to one side (so I can see the other instruments) we discovered Mrs B can also see and read it, over my shoulder. With our intercom, in heavy traffic or at difficult junctions, she chips in with directions. Also gives a brilliant commentary when tackling Alpine hairpins! We navigate together!
So if you have a regular passenger I suggest you deliberately mount it to one side. Adds interest plus an extra pair of eyes.
I just use Extreme Velcro and stick it on my windshield bag. Right in front of me and mounts and removes very easily. With the Extreme Velcro it ain't going anywhere.
PM me your e-mail and I can send some pics of a mount I built, I'm not sure how to post pics here. The fairing and windshield move more then you think. I wanted my gps up front and center to make it easier for me while driving and this one works for me. I drilled two holes in the inner fairing on the very top which are covered by my 3 pocket windshield bag. I ran the power cord to the inside of the fairing where I have a power source mounted and powered by the one that is accesable on the riding side of the bike. Clean look with no cords in the way, when I take the gps off, the cord is tucked into the 3 pocket bag, it actually is run inside one of the pouches. This is not something you can buy, you would have to make yourself.
Thanks for all the replies all.
I think i like the kuryakn one as it is held to one side (thanks for the tip GRBrown) and its easily removable so i can use it on my rental bikes in the usa.
This is the one i mean. http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/423...unting-Systems
Part number 1697.
Rode from Concord NH to Saint John NB, 650 KM with my Garmin attached to the fuel cap on my 2011 Ultra Classic with the suction cup holder for a car windshield. Not one problem, no constant shake from the windshield, easy to see & adjust. I think I will keep the fuel cap clear of the door covers just for that reason.
