Test Ride
It was about 64 degrees and sunny. Perfect for a ride. Had arrangements for my local dealer to provide me with the test ride. I have been wanting a Road King for a short while now, but never test rode one. I have been asked by the dealer on several occasions to try out a 2012, but always seemed to decline. I was not yet ready to take the plunge as my current ride, the '96 Nostalgia is running like a brand new Softail, and looks like it came off of showroom floor. I had no need to test anything else until now. I gave in to the urge, and am I ever glad I did!
The ride was smooth. The pick up was unreal. The cornering reminded me of my Sportster, and the handling on the straights were soft and smooth like my '74 Electra Glide was back then. I finally found out what others have been talking about when they say there is a lot of engine vibration when sitting still due to the rubber mounting of the engine. It smoothened right out when I got my feet off the ground again. The cruise control was great to use as I have never had any experience with it on a scoot before. The seat was very comfortable, and perfect in size.
My dealer will get their first 100th Anniversary model Road King in December, and it already has my name on it.
The Copper/Black combination looks really awesome.
Now all I have to do is keep myself contained until December. In the meantime, the Nostalgia is in the local paper for sale. Now I don't know if I want to hurry up and sell it before winter, or hang onto it just for another month so I can get a little more riding in before the Road King comes in. Decisions, decisions. At least this Christmas will have one huge gift waiting for me this year!!!!

Have fun with that anniversary model - they are a great looking motorcycle.
do not assume that the "anniversary model" will have any added value over a regular model.
if you like the color, great.
but do not expect it to have increased value over time.
H-D has almost as many 'special editions" as ty had beanie babies.

The difference between the Anniversary model and the Standard is a couple thousand dollars because the cruise, ABS/Security come standard on the Anniversary model.
I would have paid the extra for the paint scheme any way.
Now I can't wait for Christmas.

It does get quite cold here at times, but for most point you can still ride comfortably.
Congrats, the anniversary edition RKs are drop-dead GORGEOUS!
