True Duals question
With the new contest going on I got to wondering. Dont true duals create more heat for the passengers feet than the stock exhaust or V&Hs dresser duals? The way they run it looks like its right down by the passengers left foot where as the other two run down and forward then under the passengers foot.
Also, wouldnt this create more heat for the rider in the crotch and thigh area verses the stock or V&Hs?

The MGS True Duals create far less heat than stock due to a number of reasons. #1 is getting rid of that clogged stovepipe of a mess known as a catalytic converter (picture attached). That reduces heat dramatically just by doing that. #2 The MGS True Dual exhaust system was developed on a dyno with performance and air flow as priority. Because the hot exhaust gases are exiting faster without flow issues associated with the under frame design, or some other designs, heat does not build up. #3 When tuned to run efficiently, heat is also greatly reduced.
But I realize everybody has different needs and wants, so for the guy that just plain wants a cross under head pipe, we also offer slip-ons that will fit those head pipes.
Heat issues have always been something customers have been happy about when changing over to the MGS True Duals as heat was reduced.[IMG]

Well thanks for the response, but I wasnt picking on your system or anything like that. It was more of a question about that kind of system in general. The way true duals are routed it looks like the proximity to the rider and passenger would cause more heat than the ways the others are routed. I wouldnt know because I never rode a bike with a system routed that way, thats why I was asking.
While I don't have the V&H's or have a bike that has or had the cat in the pipe. I converted the stock setup to true duals and my wife is a happy camper and the only time I feel a lot of heat is after I put to lowers back on and it's not bad.

Head pipes that are ceramic coated on the outside AND the inside greatly reduce the heat transmitted to the rider or passenger. However, some exhaust system makers only coat the exterior which is kind of a half azzed approach.
Go for the few bucks extra and get full inside outside ceramic coating. Its worth it.

I have Bub-7 TD's which route similar to MGS on Left side (S-down & back) and don't feel they run any hotter than stock HD (09-pre CAT). Actually, it seems more of an "even" heat generation because the pipes run "independent" vs. meeting on Right to route under bike. My stock set was hotter on Right side and adding tuner cooled things down quite a bit (adjusted lean condition). Adding TD's was another simple tuner adjustment to allow for the new exhaust...
I am running the MGS True Duals. The wife had no complaints of heat from either side. I have taken my daughter out on the bike as well and still no complaints. Believe me, if the wife could complain about something she would. She actually complained beacause I asked her too many times if the heat from the exhaust bothered her. You will not have to worry about heat on the MGS Duals.
I had the MGS TDs installed on my ride and completely agree with this. The heat actually feels more evenly distributed with the left/right routing of the headers. I also find the lines created by the TD routing much more pleasing than the "cross under" look - but that's just me.
